JSON Formatter and Validator
Paste JSON to check its syntax, turn a compact response into readable two-space indentation, or minify it for transfer. The tool runs in your browser and does not send pasted data to this site.
Format JSON
JavaScript is required for the editor. Enter a JSON object, array, string, number, boolean, or null, then select Format JSON or Minify. Copy the result or download it as a .json file.
What valid JSON looks like
JSON requires double-quoted object keys and strings. Trailing commas and comments are not allowed. For example, {"name":"Ada","active":true} is valid; {name:'Ada',} is not.
What this formatter changes
Formatting adds whitespace and line breaks without changing the parsed data. Minifying removes unnecessary whitespace. Because the tool parses and rewrites JSON, review very large numbers and duplicate object keys before relying on the output.
